Your Personal Legend

What is your personal legend? This is something I have been asking myself for a very… very long time. What is the purpose of my life? What should I be doing? Who am i?… who are you?…
A Personal Legend is one man’s quest in life. It is something someone works for their entire life. This is the something that people… very few people achieve. These people who achieve it are the ones who die… happy… truly and deeply happy.
I just finished reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It is a book about a boy’s dream. A dream turned into reality because the boy followed his heart. He had a simple life filled with dreams, so he was given signs… opportunities… at first he resisted, but then he took the steps. There were many “omens†that helped him guide his path. He had only a vague idea of what he was heading towards, but all he knew was that what he was heading towards was what he needed to do. Once he decided to open his heart to this journey, the whole world conspired to help him. He faced many obstacles that seemingly were too big for him to overcome, but he kept following his heart… so… he experienced things he’d never imagined.
But he went for it and that’s what matters the most. He lived his dream. He followed his heart. He didn’t give up when told so. It is too often in life that people turn down what they really feel like they should be doing because of fear.
Fear… the great…. the greatest fall of man. Fear makes you look the other way. Fear makes you take the other path… fear makes you live with regret.
We have a fear of losing things… things that have value in our minds, but it is just an illusion… a really good one.
Everyone has a personal legend to achieve. We have been given signs all of our lives to what we really need to do. It is too often that we get distracted by everything around us. Today, we live in a world with so many distractions it’s not even funny. The television is buzzing at us 24/7… there is constant clatter and noise… the internet is filled all sorts of… stuff. We are constantly bombarded with what need to be doing. We cultivate this illusion… that we have something to lose if we change… It’s absurd.
If you have this desire… this dream… that if you achieve this dream… you will be completely satisfied before you die… with knowing that when you die… you will just turn back to the earth… and nothing else.
We all die eventually. Follow your heart. Live your dreams.
P.S. I highly recommend you read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho if you felt something from reading this post.
