Back in H-Town
July 2nd, 2007 Posted in Updates
For the few lovely stalkers out there reading my blog, here’s an update! Just kidding :).
I’m currently back in Houston. I took the first flight available a few days ago after realizing that living with my friend was not working. We are just very different, but it was worth the try. My friend suggested that we try to start the company in America where it would be easier to raise capital. He prefers starting big. I agreed after realizing he may be able to get the funding. So… no India just at the moment, but I will be there some day soon! I kinda wish he thought that one out earlier (note to self: do not throw premature going out of the country parties).
Anyway, it’s nice to be back with my parents. They are still the same old people (not commenting on age). My parents are strangely glad that I am back home. My dad, the ultimate anti-social, tells me how I should never trust anyone (the usual). My mom, the astrologist and psychic, tells me it was a good move, and I was destined to do this (the usual as well).
It is quite strange to be kinda bumming off my parents. I quit doing that a long time ago during college where I paid for everything. I felt great pride in being independent and not placing any burden on my parents especially since they would need to carry my sister through an expensive education. However, I really do not feel any problems with it because I appreciate what they are doing for me. I also know that I will pay them back when I can. So… Thanks mom and dad!
So what in the world am I doing? My friend is working on getting funding, which gives me some time to think about ideas and attempt to generate some income. I’m pretty broke right now. I’m actually like -$7000 in debt with a student loan, which really isn’t that bad. However, I really really really do not want to get a job again. I’ve already told myself and too many people that I would never work for someone again. So… I’m gonna make some money somehow… without becoming a drug dealer.
I’m going to start a website that tells the story of succesful people, but not focusing on the sugar coated stuff. What I mean is that people do not usually realize the crazy amount of hardwork, courage, and determination that goes behind successful people. I was just listening to Tony Robbins talk about Sylvester Stallone’s life before Rocky. It was incredible to hear about his determination to make it in the movies. After the story, I felt… so motivated. Hence, I’m going to study successful people who have similar stories and write stories focusing on the above. I already purchased the domain http://www.hardsuccess.com, which I think is an excellent domain. I know I’ll make money, but I really hope it gives me enough to sustain myself financially. I’m also going to start a education technology blog (bytedu.com) to keep me updated on the latest developments on my favorites topics.
So how am I feeling? Absolutely great. I’ve never been so happy in my life. There is definitely peace in me. I feel like I’m getting closer and closer to my real goal of making a substantial impact on education. I also feel like I am making continuous progress everday in becoming the best me. So yeah… life is great! (if this happened 3 years ago, life would have been over)
I will probably be in Dallas for the coming up weekend after July 4th. I will stay for a week or so until the movers get my furniture out of my apartment. For you Dallas peeps, that means I will see you at least once more. Keep in mind that I’m a bum :). Donations will be accepted through Paypal! Just kidding on that one too.
Buddha has an interesting definition of enlightenment: An end of suffering. I recently realized how profound that is. In addition, Eckert Tolle’s The Power of Now is helping me realize it even more (not sure if you even can consciously realize it). Another random tidbit.

Carl,
sorry to hear that you aren’t going to India. Next time you are in Dallas, drop me a line and we’ll grab lunch!
